Congrats to Birdman of Hell Paso for winning the Birds Eye Award - it is such a marvellous pic that I can't help wondering why I didn't spot it sooner!!

Hummingbird wings beat at an incredible 22-78 beats per second. This explains why almost all pictures of hummingbirds have the wings blurred.
If you want to freeze the wing motion you need to forget about your camera's shutter speed and instead start using flash units.

I have never seen so much COLOR before. What gorgeous birds. I love the three of them together and the body language clearly makes it look like they're having a heated argument. Ha !!
